The Woombie

Best invention, EVER.  And hilarious.  Kason's been breaking out of his SUPER tight swaddles for a few weeks.  He would wake himself up in the middle of the night and I would have to go re-swaddle him so he would fall back asleep.  Super irritating.  I was also getting concerned because I didn't want him overheating- and a swaddle includes a lot of flannel.  So at church a friend recommended the "Woombie".  I googled, liked, and purchased:

He likes it, too!

Nine Weeks and...

Sleeping through the night!!!  In his own room!!!!

Both are HUGE milestones that I'm sure would not have happened independently of each other.

Kason had been sleeping eight or nine hour stretch every once in a while since he was about six weeks old, but nothing really consistent.  Well... on Saturday night I moved him from the bassinet in our room to the crib in his room.  Here's proof!

He has slept nine hours every night since!  Three nights in a row is pretty consistent, right?  By definition a pattern, RIGHT?  I hope it continues, I go back to work next week and REALLY need the sleep!

Yay, Kason!

Two Months Old!

Kason is two months old!  Can you believe it????

My dad flew in from Vegas to bless Kason on Mother's Day- it was amazing!  A ton of D's family came down from Spring and my dad's cousins came down from Cypress.  My dad made some DELICIOUS baked rigatoni for everyone afterwards.  Overall, the BEST Mother's Day, EVER!  (I'm sure this is only the first "best" of many for me!)

On Monday we took Kason for his two-month checkup.  The doctor was SO impressed with how strong he was.  He's already a little gifted since he blows bubbles and almost laughs- two skills that apparently don't usually come until 3 months!  He is HUGE, too!

Weight-  14 pounds 5 oz- 95th percentile
Height-   25 3/4 inches- off the charts!  99+ percentile
Head Circumference- 42 cm - 85th percentile

The doctor was super-relieved Kason's skull hasn't fused too early and said we probably won't even need a helmet.  We just need to fatten Kason up a bit to mask all those lumps!

Kason is sleeping 7 to 8 hour stretches at night and is the HAPPIEST baby.  So easy on mommy and daddy.  He just grins and tries so hard to laugh- he is precious!

I'm off work until May 23rd, so if you wanna come by to meet the little man just give me a call!  We are officially accepting visitors.  :)

Cutie Patooties

Look at my cutie patooties!  Kason is 7 weeks old and GROWING!  (D is 31 and.........)  We are working on a schedule and it gets better EVERY DAY, thank goodness!  Kason started smiling about two weeks ago and it just melts my heart.  He already knows exactly how to get what he wants from his mama.  He also randomly rolled from his tummy to his back yesterday.  I think it was an accident because he hasn't been able to do it again- silly boy!  But it was enough to get us excited.

My dad and grandma are flying in from Vegas on Saturday so my dad can bless Kason on Mother's Day.  Isn't that exciting???  I am SO happy my grandma will meet little Kason- she is absolutely my favorite person in the whole world.  She has always been a little quirky- she has eccentric tastes and an excellent sense of humor.  Example:  She's been sending out monthly newsletters for quite a few years.  When I went off to college she started including me in the distribution.  She always included jokes in the newsletter; some were a little off color, but nothing too racy.... or so I thought!  One month my mom called me laughing like crazy.  She asked if I had gotten my Grandma's jokes yet.  I had and really didn't think they were THAT funny.  So my mom asked about a specific joke.  Hmmm.  Well I didn't recall ever reading that joke... and besides, my GRANDMA would never send out anything so dirty!!!  So we compared newsletters.  Turns out my grandma has been sending out TWO versions of her newsletter!!!  One PG-rated for family and Mormon friends and one R-rated for everyone else!!!  I was so bitter I hadn't been getting the R-rated newsletter that I immediately called my grandma and complained.  She was just tickled that we compared letters and that I cared enough to want the R-rated version.  Every once in a while she'll forget that I'm supposed to get the good jokes so I have to call and remind her.  She is just a hoot.

Here's another of my cute boys:

Bathtime.... Gotta love PB Kids!
