Nine Months Old

Today Kason and I went to the pediatrician for his 9 month checkup. It went really well! The Doctor and her intern were so impressed with Kason- he showed off all of his skills: he clapped, babbled, stood up, rocked, rolled, and even cried appropriately whenever my hands did not have contact with him. Love this kid!

I know this will come as a shock to everyone, but Kason is huge. Seriously. He is creating his own little growth curve well above the 95th percentile. He is a full 2 inches taller than those shorties who make up the 95th percentile!

Here are his stats:

Height- 32.5 inches

Weight- 25 pounds 9 ounces (He actually lost an ounce since 3 weeks ago when I took him in for a cold- all that crawling is thinning him out!)

Head circumference- 19 inches

Here's a cute pic of him, just for grins:

In other news, I officially quit my job this week. My last day will be somewhere around December 30, but work is freaking and will try to keep me part-time... we'll see. I am so excited to be able to stay home and spend more time with my baby and hubby. Sometimes it feels like D and I are both single parents- we work opposite shifts and try hard to make sure Kason is with at least one of us as much as possible. When I'm at work D is with K.... when D is at work I'm with K. Now hopefully we can spend two or three days each week together. D will also finally change to the day shift in the beginning of January, which is why we decided it would be a good time for me to quit.

I'm sure it will surprise none of you that I'm preparing to be poor by spending as much money as possible on frivolous stuff. Don't be shocked if I come to church with the $2000 Chanel purse I've been lusting after..... am I kidding??? Guess you'll just have to wait and see!

P.S. Totally kidding- we are SAVING like crazy!

Skills

Kason obviously inherited mad athletic skills from me. Look at what an expert he is after only one day of crawling!
Dare I use the term prodigy????? :)

Sweet?

Kason has been a clingy nightmare the past few days.... which is driving me bonkers! How am I supposed to get ANYTHING done when he cries everytime I put him down!?!?! Guess the house will stay a mess, the Christmas tree will stay in a box, and the stockings will NOT be hung by the chimney with care.....
Luckily I captured his sweetness the other day in this pic. I look at it to remind myself how my sweet baby boy is supposed to look..... (occupied and quiet!)

BTW, is it bad that I considered leaving him in the car for just one minute while I ran into the grocery store yesterday?!? I didn't, but it was mighty tempting!!! :)

New Milestone

This little man decided to pull himself up to standing today! In the bathtub!!! When I whooped and clapped my hands he got scared, fell flat on his little naked butt and started crying. Poor guy. But he tried it again two seconds later, so he obviously wasn't that traumatized.
I LOVE this kid!!!
BTW- isn't this retro jacket SUPER cute?

Good Times in AZ

Damien, Kason and I went on our first family vacation to Arizona a few weeks ago. We had a blast!

We had a great time visiting with my dad (Papa Bob):
And my dad's best friend, Carmella:

Papa Bob and Kason LOVED each other:

We also made it to Damien's best friend's son's first birthday (can someone check my grammar and punctuation on that one?!?)!

Hopefully Cayd and Kason will be teammates, just like their daddies!

The party was at a fantastic train park. It even had an adorable train that gave rides:
K had a great time. Turns out he's pretty popular with the ladies. Watch out, Alexa!

On our last day in AZ we were able to stop by the Mesa Temple and visitor's center. We all LOVED the visitor's center- even Kason was VERY reverent.

And we spent more time with Cayd.

We were even able to make a football practice with Jonnie and Damien's old high school coach:

Overall, it was an amazing trip and we were so happy to show off our little man!

Little Reader

Someone LOVES his bedtime stories!

Especially when daddy does scary voices. These boys kill me!

7 Months Old

This little stinker will be 7 months old on Monday! I can't believe it, where did the time go??? He is so happy, he laughs at everything. He loves his daddy and puppies, and FINALLY reaches for mama.

We think we figured out what was causing his mystery rash- detergent! Not just laundry, but EVERYTHING has detergent rather than good old-fashioned soap. So we're working on eliminating detergent from our house- it is HARD! Even Ivory soap is made from detergent! Who would have thought!?! If you're interested in learning about how detergent may cause a rash, go here.
In other exciting news, we are headed to Phoenix on the 23rd. We are so excited to introduce Kason to all our family and friends who still live out west. I am especially excited to eat breakfast at all the fabulous Jewish delis out there! We need a Jewish deli in Richmond, ASAP. Who wants to get in on that???

6 Months Old

Kason will be SIX MONTHS OLD tomorrow! I can't believe my baby is halfway to one year old!!! And the size of a one-year old. Makes me want another one, ASAP, so I can hold a "little" baby again.

Things I LOVE about my little love:

  • He sleeps 10 or 11 hours every night (like this).

  • He is FINALLY taking great daytime naps.

  • He eats like he is about to hibernate (not kidding- the boy will eat 6-8 ounces of solids AFTER an 8 oz bottle... three times a day!!!).

  • He giggles like crazy, especially when he's watching the puppies.

  • He snuggles with his mama every night during our bedtime story.

  • He loves grabbing daddy's glasses.

  • He thinks ponytails are hilarious.

  • He turns when we call his name.

  • He can totally sit up by himself but chooses not to out of pure laziness (I can relate!)

Things I don't necessarily love about my little love:

  • Cutting his first tooth.

And here are his 6-month stats:

Height- 29.5 inches (well above 95th percentile)

Weight- 21 lbs 14 oz (above 95th percentile)

Head Circumference- 18 inches (95th percentile)

He is a big healthy boy.

Bouncing....kinda

Kason LOVES his bouncer, but sometimes it's a bit much!

Some of you may have noticed the dramatic increase in my blog posts this month- I'm boycotting Facebook for some very immature reasons (which I will gladly explain in person) and am utilizing Blogger for everything Kason.

Kason still has the rash around his eye, but I tried a homemade (tee hee hee) remedy recommended by CV.... and it seems to be working!!!! You'll have to get the recipe from her! One wonderful milestone Kason hit recently- He hugs! He'll wrap his arms around my neck and rest his head on my cheek and I just DIE!! He's probably trying to pull my hair, but I'm allowed to be in denial. :)

A little news about me: I started my calling as Primary Secretary on Sunday and Whew! it was intense! All those little bodies running around being cute (and sometimes TOO cute, if you know what I mean). I never realized how calm Young Women's was! I look forward to working with all the Primary Presidency gals, I know I will learn tons and hopefully develop better organizing skills! I have big shoes to fill- we all miss LC!

Anywho, that's all I got.

Strange Rash

So Kason's had a weird rash around his right eye for several weeks. The pediatrician wasn't concerned and said to only come back if it gets worse- apparently babies get strange rashes pretty often and they can last a long time. Still freaks me out, so if you see K with a shiny, bumpy, red eye- no worries! It's not contagious and I have consulted a doctor!!

Kason has also discovered just how tasty his feet can be:

And just how miserable Tummy Time is!

And he loves his BFF Max! Only six weeks and six pounds apart! :)

5 Months Old

Little man is five months old today!!!! I can't believe how quickly time has gone by, and I am AMAZED by how Kason is growing and developing! He just "discovered" the dogs and watches them intently all day long. I can't even get him to look at me when I come home because he's too busy watching our dogs go nuts. He sleeps 11 hours every night, and every few nights he'll wake up at 4 am and just coo for 20 minutes. He laughs much more freely these days. Sometimes all we have to do is start laughing and he'll join in. He still HATES tummy time, which is pretty funny considering he immediately rolls onto his tummy as soon as he's put down. Enough with milestones- here are a few pictures that show just how cute my little man is!

On a roll...

Kason was hilarious today while I fed him avocado and sweet potatoes. He was SO hungry and couldn't wait for the spoon, so he settled for his fist:

LOVE HIM!

Summer?

Working sucks. Housework after working sucks. Things must change, soon!

Here are a few updates on Kason

He is HUGE! 19 lbs 3 oz on Monday and a whopping 29 inches long! Way off the charts for height and in the 95th percentile for weight. He will be 5 months old next Wednesday. Little man is sleeping 11 hours every night and is just a WONDERFUL baby. Damien and I are so lucky! Kason is happy and healthy.... We started him on solids a couple weeks ago- he LURVES bananas, sweet potatoes and peas! He's so-so about avocado and prunes. Yes, we give him prunes cuz he gets a little constipated. He rolls over front to back and back to front and is SOOOOO close to holding his own bottle. It's super annoying because he just knocks the bottle up, down, back and forth for now. I can't wait until he's a little more coordinated. But I am definitely head over heels in love with this man!

My Boys taking a nap. Notice I still use the Woombie, even though Kason rolls all over his crib when he wears it!

Kason LOVES his new Ducky bath!

And he LOVES grabbing his toes!

Giggles!

Finally, something from me- this monotone Hu hu hu laugh!!!

The Woombie

Best invention, EVER.  And hilarious.  Kason's been breaking out of his SUPER tight swaddles for a few weeks.  He would wake himself up in the middle of the night and I would have to go re-swaddle him so he would fall back asleep.  Super irritating.  I was also getting concerned because I didn't want him overheating- and a swaddle includes a lot of flannel.  So at church a friend recommended the "Woombie".  I googled, liked, and purchased:

He likes it, too!

Nine Weeks and...

Sleeping through the night!!!  In his own room!!!!

Both are HUGE milestones that I'm sure would not have happened independently of each other.

Kason had been sleeping eight or nine hour stretch every once in a while since he was about six weeks old, but nothing really consistent.  Well... on Saturday night I moved him from the bassinet in our room to the crib in his room.  Here's proof!

He has slept nine hours every night since!  Three nights in a row is pretty consistent, right?  By definition a pattern, RIGHT?  I hope it continues, I go back to work next week and REALLY need the sleep!

Yay, Kason!

Two Months Old!

Kason is two months old!  Can you believe it????

My dad flew in from Vegas to bless Kason on Mother's Day- it was amazing!  A ton of D's family came down from Spring and my dad's cousins came down from Cypress.  My dad made some DELICIOUS baked rigatoni for everyone afterwards.  Overall, the BEST Mother's Day, EVER!  (I'm sure this is only the first "best" of many for me!)

On Monday we took Kason for his two-month checkup.  The doctor was SO impressed with how strong he was.  He's already a little gifted since he blows bubbles and almost laughs- two skills that apparently don't usually come until 3 months!  He is HUGE, too!

Weight-  14 pounds 5 oz- 95th percentile
Height-   25 3/4 inches- off the charts!  99+ percentile
Head Circumference- 42 cm - 85th percentile

The doctor was super-relieved Kason's skull hasn't fused too early and said we probably won't even need a helmet.  We just need to fatten Kason up a bit to mask all those lumps!

Kason is sleeping 7 to 8 hour stretches at night and is the HAPPIEST baby.  So easy on mommy and daddy.  He just grins and tries so hard to laugh- he is precious!

I'm off work until May 23rd, so if you wanna come by to meet the little man just give me a call!  We are officially accepting visitors.  :)

Cutie Patooties

Look at my cutie patooties!  Kason is 7 weeks old and GROWING!  (D is 31 and.........)  We are working on a schedule and it gets better EVERY DAY, thank goodness!  Kason started smiling about two weeks ago and it just melts my heart.  He already knows exactly how to get what he wants from his mama.  He also randomly rolled from his tummy to his back yesterday.  I think it was an accident because he hasn't been able to do it again- silly boy!  But it was enough to get us excited.

My dad and grandma are flying in from Vegas on Saturday so my dad can bless Kason on Mother's Day.  Isn't that exciting???  I am SO happy my grandma will meet little Kason- she is absolutely my favorite person in the whole world.  She has always been a little quirky- she has eccentric tastes and an excellent sense of humor.  Example:  She's been sending out monthly newsletters for quite a few years.  When I went off to college she started including me in the distribution.  She always included jokes in the newsletter; some were a little off color, but nothing too racy.... or so I thought!  One month my mom called me laughing like crazy.  She asked if I had gotten my Grandma's jokes yet.  I had and really didn't think they were THAT funny.  So my mom asked about a specific joke.  Hmmm.  Well I didn't recall ever reading that joke... and besides, my GRANDMA would never send out anything so dirty!!!  So we compared newsletters.  Turns out my grandma has been sending out TWO versions of her newsletter!!!  One PG-rated for family and Mormon friends and one R-rated for everyone else!!!  I was so bitter I hadn't been getting the R-rated newsletter that I immediately called my grandma and complained.  She was just tickled that we compared letters and that I cared enough to want the R-rated version.  Every once in a while she'll forget that I'm supposed to get the good jokes so I have to call and remind her.  She is just a hoot.

Here's another of my cute boys:

Bathtime.... Gotta love PB Kids!
