Sleeping through the night!!! In his own room!!!!
Both are HUGE milestones that I'm sure would not have happened independently of each other.

Two Months Old!
My dad flew in from Vegas to bless Kason on Mother's Day- it was amazing! A ton of D's family came down from Spring and my dad's cousins came down from Cypress. My dad made some DELICIOUS baked rigatoni for everyone afterwards. Overall, the BEST Mother's Day, EVER! (I'm sure this is only the first "best" of many for me!)
On Monday we took Kason for his two-month checkup. The doctor was SO impressed with how strong he was. He's already a little gifted since he blows bubbles and almost laughs- two skills that apparently don't usually come until 3 months! He is HUGE, too!
Weight- 14 pounds 5 oz- 95th percentile
Height- 25 3/4 inches- off the charts! 99+ percentile
Head Circumference- 42 cm - 85th percentile
The doctor was super-relieved Kason's skull hasn't fused too early and said we probably won't even need a helmet. We just need to fatten Kason up a bit to mask all those lumps!
Kason is sleeping 7 to 8 hour stretches at night and is the HAPPIEST baby. So easy on mommy and daddy. He just grins and tries so hard to laugh- he is precious!

Cutie Patooties
Look at my cutie patooties! Kason is 7 weeks old and GROWING! (D is 31 and.........) We are working on a schedule and it gets better EVERY DAY, thank goodness! Kason started smiling about two weeks ago and it just melts my heart. He already knows exactly how to get what he wants from his mama. He also randomly rolled from his tummy to his back yesterday. I think it was an accident because he hasn't been able to do it again- silly boy! But it was enough to get us excited.

Craniosynostosis
Lumpy head???
So I took Kason to the pediatrician last week because he's been super fussy while eating and hasn't been finishing his bottles, so I figured we'd just get a prescription for Zantac and be on our merry way....
Well, I did get a script for his reflux, but while I was there the doc mentioned the odd shape of Kason's head... and that she'd like him to have a CT scan to ensure his skull hasn't fused too early.... a condition called craniosynostosis, which is only repairable by surgery. I've spent an entire week googling it- it is VERY scary and can sometimes cause brain damage and deform baby's faces!
When I called Texas Children's to make his CT appointment, they wanted to sedate him. Well, since he was only FIVE WEEKS OLD I said "No way!" They told me I could try to get him to sleep before his scan, but recommended I stay scheduled for sedation just in case. OK, I could live with that. I was 90% sure I could get him to fall asleep by feeding and rocking him. So I agreed.... well, to stay scheduled for sedation they told me not to feed him for SIX HOURS prior to his appointment! Seriously! I laughed at them- this is Texas Childrens, they MUST have dealt with a newborn CT scan before, right??? I told them absolutely no way, we would NOT schedule sedation and I would take my chances with my rocking/feeding strategy. So of course I stressed the four days leading up to his scan- what if I couldn't get him to sleep??? Would I have to wait ANOTHER four days for an appointment? Would the cycle just keep repeating itself? To top it off, Kason was POSSESSED those four days and WOULD NOT SLEEP on his "regular" schedule (probably because he could sense my stress!). So D and I prayed A TON about the scan and our poor baby boy. We took him in on Wednesday morning and he was perfect! The nurses at TCH were pros and had him wrapped up snug as a bug to get his 10-second scan. Literally, 10 seconds. I was appalled they wanted to sedate him for that! I think the lady making the appointment was new.... or didn't register the fact that Kason was only five weeks old.
So D and I waited for the results. And waited and prayed and waited and prayed. The nurse said we would hear our results within two days, but I hadn't heard anything as of this morning, so of course I was expecting the worst. At 1:20 this afternoon our prayers were answered- the CT scan came back normal!!!! I couldn't even control myself on the phone to my pediatrician, I was bawling and could barely talk. Then I called my mom, no answer, so I tried my sister. When my sister answered I still couldn't talk and was just hysterically crying, so she thought the worst. It was wonderful to be able to let it all out on the phone to my sister. I am amazed at the bond we've shared since I became pregnant and especially since I've joined her in the Motherhood club. Kason has brought us closer together and I am so grateful she is there for me to call when I freak out or have questions.
So no craniosynostosis for Kason. Worst case scenario is he will need a helmet in a few months to even out the side of his head that was pushed against my pelvis for two months!
Smiles!

Kason Month One
Little man is awesome! He is sleeping really well at night- sometimes 4 1/2 hour stretches! No smiles for mama.... except when he's sleeping and doesn't know he's doing it. He does awesome at tummy time and pretty much holds his head up all the time. I think we're seeing a little olive in his complexion- and this time it's not jaundice!
Here are a few photos to keep ya'll up to date, sorry if you've seen them on facebook already-
